Famous designers are coming together to auction off ocean-inspired pieces to raise funds for coral reefs. As part of SeaWeb's "Too Precious to Wear" Campaign, pieces designed by such jewelry A-listers as Frank Gehry, Melissa Joy Manning, Paloma Picasso, Jennifer Meyer (my favorite!!!) and others will be available for auction starting Feb 26th through the end of April.
The organizers chose coral reefs as their charity of choice because of the beauty of coral reefs, as well as to highlight the plight of coral reefs around the world. Most of the jewelry in the collection is made from recycled silver, gold, vintage jewelry and/or conflict-free diamonds. Each of the pieces can be viewed (and bid on!) online at the CharityBuzz website . You can find more information about the Too Precious To Wear Campaign at their website.
Check out the websites and bid on these gorgeous pieces - it is for a great cause!!!
Ralph Lauren
Anned, I totally thought of you when I found out about this - perfect for you and your love of the ocean and ocean-inspired jewelry!!!
I will, of course (!!!), be bidding on the lovely piece that Jennifer Meyer donated!
1Martini, thanks for posting!
btw, did you find your latest lust, the jacket???? We all are awaiting a photo of you posing (holding a Martini) in it! lol!
2LOL, Pam - calling Barney's today!
3WOW GOOD LUCK MARTINI
4Ok, this jacket is $1100....I have a Barney's person searching to see if they can find any...still undecided if I will actually purchase it if they find one.
5Martini, girl this is great news but the price is steep. Bad economy--ask them for a nice discount! It is almost spring so it should be on sale anyway.
6I suppose I should have posted the jacket price on the jacket thread, eh? LOL! I will duplicate that comment over there, too!
I agree about the sale, but is one of their "high demand pieces"....
7Very nice cause! Beautiful jewelry, too. I can't afford any of it, though....
8I know what you mean, tds! My coveted JM piece is fast approaching my spending cap!
